Ernie W. Ruth

Ernie Ruth, 78, of Chariton, Iowa passed away on August 26, 2022. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Following the service, there will be a visitation and music jam until 4:00 p.m. also to take place at the funeral home.

Ernest Wayne Ruth was born on June 18, 1944, in Humeston, Iowa to Arthur “Bud” and Mildred “Millie” (VanWinkle) Ruth.
Ernie was a manager at Pamida as well as drove a bread truck through the years.

Music was an extremely large part of Ernie’s life. He played guitar as well as sang. He was always the “Star of the Show” and enjoyed people. He surely was one of a kind, having such a bright outlook on life clear up until the end. He did like to get his way, but he always made sure everyone was happy. He usually wore a white cap, living by the saying, “Good Guys Wear White Hats.”

Ernie is survived by his daughter, Kelley Deen; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Pewthers; stepson, Richard Pewthers; son-in-law, Randy Braaksma; grandchildren: Briauna, Ben, and Bailey; great grandson, Ezekiel; and his significant other, Rhonda Rumple. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Penney Braaksma; son, Robbie Ruth; and grandson, Nicholas Brady.
