Erin Marie Hoffman

Mass of Christian Burial for Erin Marie Hoffman, 39, of Chariton, will be Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Chariton. A luncheon will be held at the Sacred Heart Parish Center following the services.

Family will receive friends at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton on Wednesday evening, November 2, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary being held at 7:00 p.m.

Memorials in Erin’s honor may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton.

A blessing to everyone who knew her, Erin Marie Hoffman made a profound impact on the lives of those she touched. Erin loved to be involved in her community, especially with her church and with 4-H. She was active on the Parish Council, was the “ringleader” of the activities committee at the church, was a model of unwavering faith, and volunteered wherever needed to help organize and bring people together. In 4-H, Erin and her sister, Kelly, brought back the English Strivers, a 4-H Club that had become defunct, and through their love of kids and a love of agriculture, Erin and Kelly succeeded in making it a thriving club again. Erin always loved the country, animals, and farming. She was active in 4-H and FFA growing up in the Lacona area and attending Southeast Warren High School Class of 2001. After high school, she went to Kirkwood Community College for two years and then on to Iowa State University, graduating with a degree in Ag Business and a minor in Animal Science.

Everything Erin did impacted others in a positive way. She worked as an EMS Dispatcher for nearly 15 years, showing compassion, empathy, and effectiveness in helping others. This led to her being hired as a Patient Dispute Manager at Unity Point, because of her kind and gentle voice, her self-control, and her limitless compassion for others. Erin took on the stressful and difficult situations, making bad situations better for many people.

Her greatest love was for her family. She was born at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines on November 14, 1982, to Brian and Anna Seiwert Hoffman. Erin and her sister, Kelly, grew up in the Lacona area surrounded by those who loved them. Erin was especially close to her grandmother, Alice, and the two were described as “two little old Irish hens” when they were together. Her biggest joy in the world was spending time with her niece and nephew, Isabelle and Landon. They all shared an unbreakable bond. Erin was the glue of her extended family and planned and executed many family reunions and gatherings. Erin was at her happiest when the entire family was together. She especially loved to share her genealogical research and photos with the entire family.

Erin passed away suddenly at home on October 26, 2022. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, including her parents: Brian and Anna Hoffman; sister, Kelly (Justin) Travis; her adored niece and nephew: Isabelle and Landon; aunts and uncles: Terri & Kent Wood, Karen & Sam Herkelman, Don & Julie Seiwert, and Mary & Rocky Chavez; along with many cousins, relatives, and friends.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents: Bill & Alice Whitmore and Donald & Frances Hoffman; and uncle, Mark Seiwert.
