Emily Marie Davis passed away peacefully at Methodist Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield, Texas on Tuesday afternoon, August 22, 2023, at the age of 85 with her eldest daughter, Kim, by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends Friday, October 13, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. also at the church.
Emily was born September 19, 1937, in Dallas, Iowa; the first of six children to Jim and Mae Konrad. Emily graduated from Melcher High School with the class of 1955 and remained close with many of her classmates. She enjoyed attending as many of the class reunions as she could. Emily was a mother, grandmother, and housewife foremost but did work outside the home at different times in her life. She lived in the Melcher-Dallas area most of her life until her health forced her to move to Mansfield in 2010. She always missed “home.”
Emily loved to bake and was a good cook. She loved to entertain and decorate for the different seasons/holidays. She loved to shop, especially at QVC in her later years. She could seldom be found without a coffee cup in her hand! She was always there for her family, friends, and neighbors. She loved playing volleyball and Yahtzee with family and friends. She volunteered at the MD Food Pantry, was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society, helping with funerals, picnics, bazaars, etc.
Emily will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Kim (Ray) Fenton of Mansfield, Julie (Komithy) Kirkeby of Oceanside, CA, and Betsy of West Des Moines. She had two grandchildren, Matt Fenton of Mansfield, and Kyler Kirkeby of Oceanside. She is also survived by her brothers, Bill and Rick (Dixie) of Melcher and Kevin (Des Moines); sister-in-law, Judith Konrad (Indianola); and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Emily was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Susan Marie; husband, Dannie; parents Jim and Mae Konrad; and brother, Jim Konrad Jr. Her only sister, Kathy Clark (Dallas), passed away unexpectedly less than a week after her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MD Rescue Unit or a charity of your choice.
