Ellen Potter

Ellen Viola Potter, age 84, of Albia, Iowa died Friday, October 20, 2006 at her residence at the Benton Place Apartments in Albia. She was born July 11, 1922 in Albia to Alfred Wesley and Osie (Majors) Allison. Ellen attended the Albia schools. She was a homemaker and had worked at Smith Laundry in Albia. She was affiliated with the Baptist faith. She loved her family and enjoyed playing bingo. She is survived by one daughter, Joellyn Clair of Rhodes, IA and two sons. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; along with 2 brothers, Milo ?Mike? Allison and wife Imogene of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Richard Allison and his wife Bonnie of Des Moines; and one sister, Dorothy Trotter and husband Arthur of Newton, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Marilyn; 2 sisters, Elsie Rawley and Elizabeth ?Betty? Groet and 5 brothers, Johnny, Dewey, Lester, Sam and Albert Allison. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with Rev. Brian Harris officiating. Cremation will follow the service and burial of cremated remains will be held in the Eslinger Cemtery in Monroe County at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral from 10-11 A.M. on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with the family present. Memorials have been established to the Benton Place Apartments.
