Elizabeth “Betsy” Florence Pitt, age 76, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023, at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics.
Betsy was born on December 31, 1946, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Lloyd and Almyra (Polland) Sharp.
Betsy was blessed with six daughters, Kandy, Sherri, Genni, Bobbijo, Shelli, and Franky. She was united in marriage to Larry Pitt on November 10, 1989. Following their marriage, she gained three bonus children, Lonnie, Wendy, and Christina. Betsy and Larry enjoyed 33 years of marriage before her passing.
Betsy was primarily employed in the food industry, including working as an assistant manager at Hardee’s and Kum & Go. Betsy enjoyed cooking, crafts, and coloring. She loved going to yard sales and secondhand stores on her golf cart. Betsy’s greatest joy was her family. She was deeply loved and will be missed by them all.
Those left to cherish Betsy's memory include her husband, Larry Pitt; daughters, Kandy (Brad) Neer, Sherri Carter (John Small), Genni (Bob) Eaglin, and Bobbijo (Chad) Weltikol. She is also survived by three stepchildren, Lonnie (June) Pitt, Wendy (Paul) Hardwick, and Christina (Randall) Lewis; 25 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren.
Betsy is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Almira Sharp; daughters, Shelli Legros and Franky Mendenhall; and grandchildren, Tara Norton, Shelby Mendenhall, Virginia Eaglin, and Riley Lewis.
Betsy’s wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. A memorial service will take place at 10:00 A.M. Following services, a burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Harvey Community Center
Memorials may be given in Betsy’s memory to Harvey Assembly of God and designated to the Royal Rangers.
