Elizabeth Chloe Graves, age 84, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Thursday evening, January 5, 2023, at Accura HealthCare of Knoxville.
Chloe’s wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held on Friday January 13, 2023, at the Winfield Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with her family present. At 7:00 P.M. a service will be held led by Elder Bill McDonald. A private family burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Albia, at a later date.
Chloe was born on February 25, 1938, in Lucas County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Walter Irvin and Louise Minnie (Wiren) Whitlach. Chloe was raised in the Chariton area, and she attended Chariton High School. She later graduated from beauty school.
On March 7, 1958, Elizabeth Chloe was united in marriage to Jack Julian Graves. They shared 38 years of marriage and were blessed with four children: Toni, Melissa, Neil, and Scott. Jack passed away on December 25, 1996.
Chloe was a homemaker and a beautician from her home. She worked locally for many years decorating cakes at Hy-Vee. Chloe was a gifted seamstress and was very talented with all types of crafts. She also enjoyed gardening, music, and the local community chorus for many years.
Chloe is survived by her four children, Toni Logue (Mike), Melissa Deaver (Tim), Neil Graves (Danielle), and Scott Graves all of Knoxville; seven grandchildren, Megan Priest (Kevin), Nikki Foster (Clint), Alexa Peterson (Tanner), Dalton DeMoss (Kassadi), Jessica Pickering (Jon), Maddi Graves, and Ericka Graves; and 12 great grandchildren, Ainsley, Nash, Damian, Jayden, Taylor, Jaxson, Grayson, Berkeley, Warner, Stella, Madden, and Owen. Chloe is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Louise Whitlach; her late husband Jack Graves; her granddaughter Shelby DeMoss; and her life companion Bill Stuchel.
Memorials may be given in Chloe’s memory to the Marion County Humane Society.
