He attended school at Rosemount and graduated from Lacona High School in 1965. In December after graduation, he was drafted into the Army. He was stationed in Germany for two years during Vietnam. Ed met Carol Schneider at Mary Lou and Jerome's wedding and they married August 21, 1971. To this union, they were blessed with seven children: Jackie, Ed Jr., Becky, James, Bill, Steve, and Kim. In 1980, they moved to their current residence and continued farming. Ed loved his farm and was a genuine family man. His kids and grandkids meant so much to him, and he became the best babysitter to his grandchildren. If they weren't getting along, he would make them hold hands until they did. Ed enjoyed playing cards, games such as Solo and Pinochle were a couple of his favorites. He really enjoyed going to socialize, and you could always find a deck of playing cards in his bib pocket, so he was always ready to play. He enjoyed the simple joys in life. He was never in a hurry, just taking things as they came. Ed had a gift of making everybody feel welcome. He would always have a drink handy for you if you came by. He was very giving and helpful, ready to drop whatever he was doing to help out. Ed will be missed by his wife Carol; children: Jackie Putz, Ed (Merrie) Putz Jr., Becky (Scott) Ingvaldson, James Putz, Bill Putz, Steve Putz, and Kim (Tom Frerk) Putz; grandchildren: Faith, Mackenzie, Evan, Breanna, Eli, Aiden, Jaxon, and Teigen; siblings: Judy (Chris) Garrett, Marge Williams, Jerry (Joanne) Putz, Barb Hanna, Bob (Kay) Putz, and Tony (Sue) Putz; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents William Putz, Catherine and stepfather Virgil Schurman. Cemetery Details Bauer Catholic Cemetery Bauer, IA
