Dwight Eugene "Hime" Bonnett

Dwight Eugene “Hime” Bonnett, age 83, of Bussey, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Accura Healthcare of Knoxville.
Hime’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Sunday, June 12th, at the United Methodist Church of Bussey. Hime’s family will be present to visit and share a meal after services. A private family burial will be held at Hamilton Cemetery at a later date.
Dwight was born on October 7, 1938, to Floyd and Erma (Stewart) Bonnett on their farm east of Bussey. Hime was born and raised on the family farm and attended Bussey High School. He was a graduate of the Class of 1957 and was a good football player in high school.
Hime met Patricia Darlene Clipperton and they were married in 1960. They have been together for 62 years and have been blessed with four children: Michael Eugene, Kelly Dean, Jody Renae, and Kevin Jay.
Hime worked for 30 years and retired from John Deere in Ottumwa. He loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports and if Hime’s family pride was gold, we’d all be rich. Some of his hobbies was hunting in Colorado, mule riding, teasing as many people as possible, and storytelling.
Those left to cherish Hime’s memory include his wife, Patricia “Pat” Bonnett; their children, Michael Bonnett, Kelly Bonnett, Jody McCarty, and Kevin Bonnett; 8 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Diane Gullion; in-laws, Nanette Bonnett, Jill Bonnett, Melinda Bonnett, and Jon McCarty. Hime was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Erma Bonnett; his sister Vera Reed; his cousin Larry Bonnett; and two grandsons Johnathon and Jordan McCarty.
The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Hime’s family with services.
