Dorothy Berdeen Hudson

Funeral services for Dorothy Hudson, 100, of Ankeny will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Dallas Christian Church in Dallas. Family will be present to greet family and friends one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Dorothy's honor to Suncrest Hospice in Ankeny. You may join the family via livestream at Dorothy Berdeen McAninch Hudson was born December 29, 1920 to Michael and Dora Hawk McAninch. She met her husband in Confidence, Iowa. They married and were blessed with eleven children. Her kindness and love for others was so genuine, and she was truly loved by all who knew her. She was always willing to help anyone in need. Dorothy was a very hard worker. She was a seamstress at the overall factory for a number of years. She enjoyed a good game of Yahtzee and Rummikub. Dorothy did a lot of gardening, canning, baking, and cooking. With ten children, these qualities came in quite handy. Some of her specialties were her homemade popcorn balls, cocoa, and cinnamon rolls. She was also blessed with her abilities to quilt and sew. Dorothy loved the laughter of her family and being together, especially her grandchildren. One of her daughters said that when Dunkin Donuts opened in Des Moines, she had her drive her up there just to get their coffee. Dorothy was very quick-witted even as she grew older. When people asked her about being old, she would reply, "I'll let you know when I get there." She will be deeply missed by her ten children: Billie Roberts Neff, Judi (Dharl) Bagley, Dorothy Elaine (Arnold) Cassady, Jim (Cindy) Hudson, Jan (Ron Barker) King, Ron (Norly) Hudson, Lorrie (Mike) Hudson-Bjorgo, Wanda Hudson, Rex (Stacie) Hudson, and Tami (Tim) Counts; sister-in-law, Pat McAninch; 33 grandchildren; 70 great grandchildren; 68 great, great grandchildren; and 1 great, great, great grandchild. Preceding Dorothy in death is her husband of 67 years, John Hudson; son. Johnny Hudson; sons-in-law: Jerry Roberts, Al Neff, Jerry Koder, and Rod King; daughter-in-law, Carol Hudson; granddaughters: Teresa Gadberry and Shelly Bagley; great grandson, Gage Koder; great granddaughter, Maggie McClaskey; granddaughter-in-law, Rebekah Bagley; sister, Berniece Campbell; brothers: Charlie, George, Paul, Mike, Gene, Clyde, Mac, Rex, and Dick McAninch; and her parents, Michael and Dora Hawk McAninch.
