Donna Jean Ripperger

Funeral services for Donna Jean Ripperger, 86, of Chariton will be Friday, July 31, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will be at the Chariton Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lucas County Humane Society or Everystep Hospice in Knoxville. The service and visitation will be conducted under CDC Guidelines, which includes social distancing measures, and masks are recommended. Donna Jean was one of six children born to the couple and was raised alongside her siblings in Chariton. She enjoyed her job as a waitress at the White Swan and at her mom's restaurant, The Country Kitchen. On September 28, 1957, Donna Jean was united in marriage to Lester Ripperger. The couple was blessed with three children: Mary Ann, Mark, and Marsha. Donna Jean enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She was a very devoted wife and mother. Donna Jean was also a very loving grandmother. She was known as "Minnie" by her great grandchildren. Donna Jean looked forward to every family gathering, especially the 4th of July. Her family looked forward to any family function that prompted her to make her made from scratch German Chocolate Cake. Anyone who knew Donna Jean will tell you that she was ornery, a little bit feisty, and always very social. She loved to visit and would talk to anyone. As much as she loved people, Donna Jean sometimes seemed to love her dogs even more. Donna passed away at home on Saturday, July 25, 2020 surrounded by her family. Donna will be missed by her daughter, Marsha (Jon) Johnson; granddaughters: Chelsey (Jake) Johnson, Shelby Johnson, and Kassidy (Brady) Johnson; 8 great grandchildren: Hayden, Nattaley, Elle, Attleigh, Bryson, Jonah, Jackie, and Jorjia; sister, Lois (LaVerne) Davis; sisters-in-law: Anna Anderson, Louise Stanley, Pat Hoch, Judy Ripperger, Phyllis Ripperger, and Maggie Ripperger; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and her dog, Harper. Preceding Donna in death were her parents, Charles and Mary Anderson; husband, Lester Ripperger; children, Mary Ann Ripperger and Mark Ripperger; and siblings: Juanita Bridges, Delores Remster, Charles Anderson, and Leland Anderson.
