Donna Jean Isaacson

A Celebration of Life for Donna Jean Isaacson, of Chariton, will be held Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will take place at a later date at the New Virginia Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Donna's name to the Woodburn Booster Club to support the dances and music jams - 811 Sherman Street, Woodburn, Iowa 50275. Donna Jean was born February 4, 1937 to Delano and Hazel Lindell in Red Oak, Iowa. Donna was raised in Red Oak alongside her brothers, Dale and Duane. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1954 and went on to attend a secretarial school in Omaha. While in Omaha, Donna took her first job at Commerce Extension. In 1958, Donna was united in marriage to Leland Donald Isaacson. The couple moved to California for a time and then returned to Lucas County, Iowa where they bought a farm in 1962. They were blessed with four children: Brenda Jean, Kirk Lee, Sherry Lynn, and Julie Ann. Donna worked as a CNA at the Chariton Manor for thirty years. After retiring, Donna continued to volunteer at the manor and received a volunteer award. This was one of her great achievements. Donna loved to dance and regularly attended country music dances. She also enjoyed being part of "The Donnas Club". She was an amazing cook and was known for making the best fried chicken, potato salad, pickles, and her famous Neva's Chocolate Cake. Donna also loved to travel. Above all else, Donna enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Donna passed away July 31, 2019 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Sanderson; grandson, Jacobie Erickson; brothers, Dale Lindell and Duane Lindell; and her loving companion of twenty years, Frank Campbell. Donna will be greatly missed by her children: Brenda (Mark) Erickson, Kirk Isaacson, and Sherry (Tony) Pettit; son-in-law, Bubba Hicks; grandchildren: Alexi, Toriann, Buck, Sara, Amy (Kevin), Allison, Shane (Courtney), Brittany (Brady), and Tyler (Mariah); 10 great grandchildren: Myles, Hailey, Riley, Carson, Corbyn, Mason, Cooper, Kinleigh, Harper, and Ryker; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
