Don Banks

Graveside Services for Don will be held at the Chariton Cemetery on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Chariton in Don's name. Donald Lee Banks was born October 8, 1938 to Kenneth and Alta (Hobbs) Banks in California. He had one sister, Linda. Donald married Connie Kay Callahan on June 17, 1967. Donald and Connie lived in California until moving back to Chariton in 1998. Donald was a machinist by trade; after moving to Iowa Don began working for Vermeer. Like many machinist he was a perfectionist and it showed in his immaculate lawn and garden and the upkeep of his home and vehicles. He was the outdoors type who loved his dogs and time spent fishing and camping. Donald had many fond memories of one-on-one time spent fly-fishing with his Dad. Donald passed away at home on June 17, 2020 at the age of 81 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his daughter, Courtney Banks and sister, Linda Dowel, along with many relatives and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie; and son, Kevin Banks.
