Delphine "Phine" Schneider

A Mass of Christian Burial for Delphine "Phine" Schneider, 89 of Bauer, will be Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Interment will follow at the Bauer Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. A Rosary will be held following the visitation. Memorials in Phine's name may be made to the Bauer Cemetery Fund or to the Melcher-Dallas Rescue Unit. Delphine Rose Meier was born April 18, 1927 to Anna and Bernard Meier in Olpe, Kansas. Phine was united in marriage to Gerald "Jerry" Schneider on August 28, 1948. The couple was blessed with five children: Genie, Charlene, Sandy, Bonnie, and Gary. The family moved to Marion County, Iowa in 1961. Phine enjoyed sewing and making quilts. She also made clothing for her children while they were growing up. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her exceptional pies. Phine loved to work in her flower gardens and to help around the farm. She also liked to shop and looked forward to Black Friday shopping with the girls every year. Phine passed away March 17, 2017 at the Westview Care Center in Indianola. Her husband, Jerry Schneider; father, Bernard Meier; mother, Anna Meier; step-mother, Irene Meier; and step-sister, Martha Gumn, preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: Genie (Jim) Hansen, Charlene (Terry) Fisher, Sandy (Delbert) Schaffer, Bonnie (Jim) Colwell, and Gary (Brenda) Schneider; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
