Delores Marie (Bassett) Cowman

Delores Marie (Bassett) Cowman was born on September 18, 1948 to John Clarence and Betty Jean (Hoover) Bassett. Delores was the second of the Bassett’s seven children. She graduated from Van Meter High School with the class of 1966. Delores was united in marriage to Carl Lee Busch and to this union 3 daughters were born. Darbie Lynn, Amanda Marie and Jodie Jon, they later divorced. Delores met the love of her life, Gary Raymond Cowman, through mutual friends and were united in marriage on April 15, 1988 after 13 years of being together. Following high school Delores entered the work field working for Farm Bureau and Employer’s Mutual Insurance companies before being hired by Knoxville Water Works on May 9, 1977. She retired after nearly 30 years of employment on January 26, 2007. She also served as a reserve police officer for the Knoxville Police Department for several years.
