Delmar "Bud" Burk

Delmar “Bud” Burk, age 78, of Bussey, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Comfort House of Pella, Iowa.

Bud was born August 15, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa to parents, Hubert and Hazel (Green) Burk. He grew up in Bussey and graduated from Bussey High School.

Bud was united in marriage to Patricia Frost on September 21, 1963. They were blessed with two daughters, Kim and Lynn. Bud and Pat enjoyed 56 years of marriage before his passing.

Bud began his work career in road construction and underground coal mining. He later was employed with the Corp of Engineers for 20 years, until his retirement. Bud had a passion for all kinds of hunting. He loved riding his Harley Davidson, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Bud’s wishes were to be cremated. Visitation for Bud will be held on Monday, July 20, 2020 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with Bud’s family present to greet friends and relatives from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at the Winfield Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Hazel Burk; and one sister, Brenda Burk.

Those left to cherish Bud’s memory include his wife, Pat Burk of Bussey; daughters, Kim Zellmer (Roger) of rural Bussey and Lynn Gardner (Jeff) of Altoona; grandchildren, Andy Zellmer (Kristi), Stephanie Clark (Kelby Evans), Skeeter Zellmer, Taylor Scott (Nick), Brandyn Zellmer (Niki Messerschmitt), Brody Gradner, and Tannor Gardner; great-grandchildren, Dallas, Gavin, Kelby, Grady, Everly, Willow, Sage, Milly, and one on the way. Bud is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bud’s family and will be distributed at a later date.
