Debra Pauline Evans was born to Jay B. and Patricia L. (Pollitt) Evans on July 7, 1957, in Grinnell, Iowa. She passed away September 11, 2023, at the Lucas County Health Center following an extensive illness.
She attended Lucas Elementary through 6th grade and graduated from Chariton High School. She graduated from America Academy of Beauty. She worked as a hairdresser for several years, then as a nanny until retirement. After retirement, she returned to Chariton and lived at Southgate, then most recently at Homestead Assisted Living.
Debbie is survived by her twin sister, Donna Evans of Ottumwa and brothers, Bill (Lori) Evans of Lucas and Jay Evans of Leon; nieces: Crystal Fellows, Carmen Moss (Bobby), Nicole Hansen, Shannon Briggs (Austin) and Jackie; nephews, Bradley Evans (Alissa) and Michael Evans; along with several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay B. and Patricia L. Evans; sister, Margie Evans; grandparents, W.C. “Billy” and Addie Evans and Morris and Pauline Pollitt.
Debbie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lucas and a volunteer at the John L. Lewis Memorial Museum of Mining and Labor at Lucas.
One of her favorite things to do was to drive friends, Katie and Anna, wherever they needed to go. She will be missed by her family and many friends. Per her wishes, no services are planned.
