Dean VanderLinden

Services for Dean VanderLinden, 85, of Milo will be Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Milo. Burial will be in the Belmont Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at the church Friday at 6:00 PM where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Condolences may be left at pierschbacherfuneralhome.com. Dean was born September 5, 1921 to Forrest and Della McNeer VanderLinden at their home farm near Milo, Iowa. Dean passed away March 13, 2007 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 85. Dean graduated from Milo High School in 1940. He worked in a defense plant in San Diego, California, and was a gunnery instructor for the Army Air Corps. He married Loraine F. Greubel on December 26, 1942 at Rosemount, Iowa. Dean farmed near Milo most of his life. He really loved the land and was always trying to improve it. He received many conservation awards. He served many years as president of the South Central Coop and Warren County Mutual Insurance Company. He served as a township committee man, and for many years on ASCS. He was active as a volunteer and on many community organizations. He was a member of the American Legion Post 263 and the St. Augustine Catholic Church. Those left to honor his memory are his wife Loraine; his sons: Charles (Carey) VanderLinden of Knoxville, Willis (Elaine) VanderLinden of Oskaloosa; his daughters: Pat (Sterling) Greufe of Milo, Cheryl (Steve) Reck of St. Petersburg, FL; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 4 special sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
