As a small child of 5, she was saved in a tent meeting in the Derby Park, where Rev. Raymond Williamson was preaching. Later, as a teenager, she was Sanctified and dedicated her life to the Lord. There she served as a Sunday School Teacher, V.B.S. teacher, Children's Church worker, on the Sunday School Board, choir member and head of the Senior Citizen Group. To this union, God blessed them with four wonderful sons: Emery Lee, Robert Lynn, Stephen Paul, and James Franklin. She and Frank farmed for 35 years in Lucas County, but in September of 1985 they moved to downtown Denver, Colorado, where they managed a senior citizen high rise for 10 years. While there they helped get a church service started for the tenants on Thursday nights. They also served as pianist for the Outreach of Love, a mission dedicated to the homeless of Denver. She and Frank retired in 1996 and moved back to Chariton to be closer to their family. She worked at several stores in Chariton, including: Places, Spurgeons, J.C. Penney, and The Outlet.
