David Petersen

David Leo Petersen passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023, at his home in Norwalk after a two year battle with cancer. A memorial visitation will be held at Bondurant Federated Church on July 1, 2023, from 1:00-3:00pm with a celebration of life service to immediately follow. The family kindly asks anyone attending to honor Dave by dressing comfortably in your favorite shorts or jeans. In lieu of flowers, just bring your stories and memories of Dave to share.

Dave was born in Atlantic, Iowa to Harold and Clara (Newton) Petersen on June 9, 1950.  He worked at Anderson Erickson Dairy for over 30 years before retiring.  It was at the dairy where he met the love of his life Kathy. The two were married on November 14, 1998, in a log cabin in rural Bondurant.  After retirement, Dave had a little more time to enjoy all life had to offer. Whether it was golfing, fishing, or taking a Sunday afternoon to watch the NASCAR race, he enjoyed those little pleasures in life. Dave took the most pleasure in the time he spent with his family whom he dearly loved. 

Dave is survived by by his loving and dedicated wife, Kathy; children, Brad (Erin) Petersen, Craig (Andi) Petersen, Stacy Petersen, Melissa Eshelman, Molly (Jesse) Depping, Jed (Jenny) Eshelman, and Mariah Lavin; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Rita Windle; brothers, Tom (Audy) Burk, David (Loretta) Burk; brother-in-law, Marty Warrick; mother-in-law, Betty Warrick; cousins, Lyle (Cindy) Petersen and Paul (Tiffany) Petersen; and many, nieces, nephews, and  wonderful friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Smith; father-in-law, Marv Warrick; and in-laws, Kenny (Marj) Burk.
