Darlene Arnold, 85 of Chariton passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at her home. A Celebration of Life at Pierschbacher Funeral Home will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the family to donate to State and National Genealogy Associations in honor of Darlene's love for genealogy. Darlene Ann Steinbach, 85 of Chariton was born June 28, 1935 to Frank and Clara (Wadle) Steinbach in rural Lucas County. She was born at her great grandparent's farm, the same place her father was born thirty-two years earlier. She was married Kenneth H. Arnold on June 29, 1953. They were the parents of four children: Bonnie Joan was stillborn in 1954, three sons followed, Gordon, Dennis, and Eric. She worked as an Executive secretary at Hy-Vee Corporate Office for 38 years before retiring in 1997. She was very active in Genealogy serving as Officer for many years. She helped many researchers find their Lucas County roots. She traveled for 9 years with her Genie friends. They called themselves the "Vancesters" They spent a few days to 2 weeks traveling the U.S. in search of ancestors. Darlene started school in the Coloma School in Marion County. During her second year in Coloma, they moved to Lucas County and she then attended Graves School. She was the only one in her grade till three years later when Geneva White now Geneva Wilson moved into the area. They became close friends then and still are friends. She had a special friendship with Mary Ruth, Marie, Mable, Linda, and Marilyn. Darlene is survived by her three sons and two wonderful daughters-in-law: Gordon, Dennis (Cindy), and Eric (Julie); four grandchildren: Amanda (Dominic), Brian (Chelsy), Nicole (Nick), and Jenny (Robert); and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant daughter; brother Laverne. Events Details are pending.
