Christopher “Chris” Floyd Kingery was born September 24, 1992 to Jonathan and Angela Kingery in Des Moines, Iowa. Chris spent his early childhood in Des Moines alongside his siblings: April, Allan, and Caitlin.
Chris’ family moved to Illinois so his dad could take seminary classes, then to Indiana and Wisconsin where they were caretakers of a Girl Scout Camp. The family also lived for a time in Texas before coming back to the Midwest. In 2002, they settled in Chariton, Iowa to be closer to family and in 2007 they made their home in Humeston. Chris attended Chariton High School and graduated from Mormon Trail.
Chris was blessed with three children: Lyla, Levi, and Braden. He was a proud dad and loved every minute spent with his kids.
Chris worked with his best friend, David Keller, doing construction for Precision Pipe & Grading. When he wasn’t working, Chris loved playing video games, especially Call of Duty. Like his father, Chris also enjoyed working on cars. He also loved music, singing and DJing. He knew how to entertain a crowd and always had a good time. Chris loved the lyrics, “A 100 bad days made a 100 good stories. A 100 good stories make me interesting at parties.”
Pancakes were his specialty. Chris insisted that his pancakes be thin with a side of two eggs. His favorite place to eat was Buffalo Wild Wings. His favorite drink was RC Cola. Chris also LOVED hot sauce.
On May 8, 2020, Chris was united in marriage to Kaylee Rains.
Happy and positive is how Chris’ family describes him. He was also generous and kind, always helping others. Chris lived in the moment, and the moment after that. His infectious smile will be missed by all who loved him.
Chris passed away March 1, 2022. He is survived by his mom, Angela Kingery; wife, Kaylee Kingery; children: Lyla, Levi, and Braden; siblings: April (Doug) Matheny, Allan Edgerton, and Caitlin (Scott) Brown; grandfather, Robert Post; parents-in-law, Randy and Theresa Clarke; father-in-law, Jay Eldon Rains; brothers-in-law: David Rynearson, Tyler Rains, and Devin Rains; sister-in-law, Erin Clarke; and grandparents-in-law, Penny and Kenny Rains Jr.; along with his nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends.
