Derby

Cheryl Kay Roberts, 75, of Derby, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will be at the Leon Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the family and will be designated at a later date.

Cheryl was born on November 09, 1948, to Virginia Elizabeth and Charles Edward Eaton Sr. in Leon, Iowa. Cheryl was the second of four children born to the couple. She was raised alongside her siblings in Leon and attended Central Decatur Schools, graduating alongside the class of 1966.

Cheryl was blessed with two children, Russ and Cherry. She was a loving mother and did all that she could to make a wonderful home for her children. Cheryl worked outside of the home doing housekeeping for the hospital, and later, as a cook at the school.

On April 9, 1994, Cheryl was united in marriage to Lynn Roberts. Lynn treated Cheryl like a queen. The couple made their home together in Derby, Iowa. Cheryl and Lynn were pastors at the New Life Full Gospel Church in Humeston. They enjoyed spending time with their church family. Cheryl found great joy in running a food pantry in the area where food was given out weekly.

Cheryl and Lynn also shared a great love of music. Lynn was a talented guitar player and both he and Cheryl loved to sing. Singing and dancing were some of Cheryl’s favorite pastimes. She enjoyed singing so much that when she was younger, she tried out to be one of Charlie Pride’s backup singers. Cheryl and Lynn looked forward to every jam session they could attend and nights out together dancing at the Soda Pop Saloon in Chariton.

Although she only stood 4’11½” (the added ½” a result of her fluffing her perm), Cheryl was a dynamo. She was energetic, kind, and loving. Her love of jewelry, shoes, and pocketbooks ensured that she was always dressed to the nines.

Cheryl was a great cook and enjoyed baking. She made countless cookies over the years for various family gatherings. Those family gatherings always meant so much to Cheryl. Both she and Lynn loved their blended family above all else.

Cheryl will be dearly missed by her children, Russ (Sandy) Hall and Cherry (Steve) Rehbein; stepsons, Rodney (Tamdan) Roberts and Rusty (Tonya) Roberts; 13 grandchildren: Ryan, Devon (Zac), Katelyn, Megan, Gracie, Allison, Alexis, Blake, Miah, Jack (McKailah), Brandon, Ashley, and Cassie; four great grandchildren: Reese, Eli, Lucia, Sophia; sister, Judy (Mike) Jones; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Virginia; husband, Lynn; brother, Eddie; and sister, Donna.
