Cheryl Hamilton Kurimski

May 9, 1960 — October 22, 2017

Cheryl Hamilton-Kurimski, 57 of Chariton (formerly of Albia), passed away October 22, 2017 at the Legacy Lodge Hospice in Chariton at the age of 57 years after battling ALS. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Cheryl was born May 9, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa to Swede and Shirley Mateer Hamilton. She grew up in the Albia and Chariton area and graduated from Albia High School in 1978. She was married on July 18, 1978 to Paul Kurimski. They were blessed with five children: Jerry, Tony, Ann, Stacey, and Kimberly. Cheryl worked for years providing in-home daycare for families. She loved working with children. Later in life, Cheryl did office and clerical work for different businesses. She ended her career working for the IBEW in Washington, D.C. Cheryl always stayed active. She enjoyed all physical activity: biking, running, going for walks, doing yoga, and completing workout programs. She also enjoyed her downtime and spent hours sewing, quilting, reading, and baking. Her family and friends enjoyed everything she made in the kitchen, especially her apple crisp. Cheryl loved having people over and hosting get-togethers. Family meant everything to Cheryl. She was proud to be one of six children and to come from a supportive and loving family. She instilled the importance of family in her own children and grandchildren. Cheryl was always bragging about their accomplishments. She was their biggest cheerleader. She was also a wonderful grandmother and spoiled her seven grandchildren by hosting sleepovers and tea parties, reading countless books to them, and by being a very active grandma. Cheryl brought happiness into the lives of everyone that knew her. She will be greatly missed by so many. Cheryl is survived by her parents: Swede and Shirley Hamilton; children: Jerry (Abbey) Kurimski and their children: Austin and Kierstynn, Tony (Emily) Kurimski and their son, Jack, Ann (Robert) Turner and their children: Wyatt, Ayden, and Starklyn, Stacey (Matt) Johnson and their daughter, Sloane, and Kimberly (Pat) Alt. She will also be missed by her siblings: Rick (Sharon) Hamilton, Donnie (Ann) Hamilton, Kayla (Elmer) Kolnes, Vickie (Bob) Hale, and CJ (Linda) Hamilton; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. Preceding her in death was her infant son, Paul Michael Kurimski. Visitation
