Charlene Kay Reimer

March 6, 1948 — December 27, 2020

Charlene Kay Reimer was born March 6, 1948, to Charles and Dorothy (Ceaser) Reimer in Knoxville, Iowa. She passed away on December 27, 2020, in Des Moines, IA with son Jake by her side.

Charlene was a 1966 graduate of Knoxville High School. Charlene raised two children from her first marriage - Johanna and Michael (Jake). Charlene was involved in several business experiences and ventures ranging from working at Iowa State Bank to co-owning the Pella Video Store to the beginnings of a nursing career after her graduation from Indian Hills Community College. After a lengthy recovery from two bouts with cancer, Charlene settled into retirement to focus her love and laughter upon her children, three granddaughters - Rachel, Kathleen & Charlotte - and the several animals who were her constant companions.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children - her daughter Johanna (Brian) Ross of Council Bluffs, Iowa and her son Michael Jacob Scent of Knoxville, Iowa; and, her three granddaughters Rachel and Kathleen Ross of Council Bluffs and Charlotte Scent of Knoxville. Charlene is also survived by her aunt, Rachel (Clifford) Hicks of Simpsonville, South Carolina; her sister Christine Preston of McFarland, Wisconsin; her niece Lindsay (Nathan) Brown of Western Springs, Illinois; her nephew Michael (Becky) Gregory of Pinedale, Wyoming; and many lifelong friends and extended family.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Dorothy (Ceaser) Reimer; her sisters Margaret Gregory and Kathleen Reimer; her brothers-in-law David Gregory and Dennis Preston; and her nephew John Preston.
