Cecil F. Spring, age 97, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at West Ridge Specialty Care in Knoxville
Cecil was born on September 2, 1921, in Albia, Iowa, the daughter of Seth and Minnie (Van Peursem) Niemants. Her family lived in Otley, until moving to Knoxville when Cecil was twelve years old. She attended Knoxville Schools and graduated with the class of 1939.
Cecil was united in marriage in 1946, to Charlie Spring. They were blessed with three daughters, Roberta, Karen, and Sharon. They enjoyed 30 years of marriage, before Charlie’s passing in 1976.
Cecil was employed at Iowa State Savings Bank for over 25 years, until her retirement in 1986. She worked as an assistant cashier. Cecil loved to read, was known for her cooking skills, especially homemade pies, enjoyed antiquing, flea markets, and watching golf, so she could talk to her brother about it. Cecil was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church for over 80 years, and enjoyed being a part of the “kitchen girls” and volunteering wherever she was needed.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Sharon Spring of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and extended family and friends.
Cecil was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Spring; parents, Seth and Minnie Niemants; and daughters, Roberta Spring and Karen Spring.
