Catherine Carmody

Catherine Carmody, age 93, of Nevada, Iowa formerly of Melrose died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. She was born on June 15, 1913 to James and Catherine Philomena (Coady) O'Brien. She married Matthew Francis Carmody on August 20, 1945 at the St. Patricks Catholic Church in Melrose. He died March 31, 1981. Catherine attended the St. Josephs Academy in Ottumwa, Iowa. She had worked in the Ammunition Plant in Ankeny, Iowa and was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Patricks Catholic Church in Melrose and it?s Altar & Rosary Society and the St. Patricks Catholic Church and St. Ann?s Club of Nevada, Iowa. Four sons, John J. Carmody of Nevada, Donald F. (Mary Lou) Carmody of Mt. Pleasant, Patrick J. (Kathy) Carmody of Solon, and Michael M. (Linda) Carmody of Ankeny survive Catherine. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Nicole, Kristine, Michelle, Katie, Matt, and Shawn and great grandchildren. Her parents, husband Matt, one sister, Mary in infancy, and 6 brothers, Martin, Phillip, Pierce, Vincent, Francis and Michael precede her in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 2, 2007 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose. Visitation will open after 4:00 P.M. and be open until 8:00 P.M. with the family present on Friday, June 1, 2007 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Melrose. There will also be a 7:00 P.M. Christian Wake Service at the church. An Open Memorial has been established.
