Carol Ann Fleagle

Carol Ann Fleagle, 74, of Indianola passed away on July 14, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at the New Heights Baptist Church in Indianola, Iowa. Interment will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Carol Ann was born on June 1, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa to Dan and Doris (Crews) Johnston. She grew up in Norwoodville and attended Saydel High School. She then attended Grandview Junior College and the University of Iowa.

Carol met Norman Fleagle, and the two were married in 1991. To this union, they joined with their 4 children: Brook, Brandi, Matt, and Todd. Carol and Norman had 30 wonderful years together.

Carol taught school at Twin Cedars before her children were born. She later became an Executive at the Iowa Society of CPA’s. After this, she became the Director of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association, where she worked until her retirement 15 years ago.

Carol was an amazing woman with many wonderful traits. She had so much love for her children and grandchildren. Church was also a very significant part of Carol’s life. Carol was always willing to help others. She remembered birthdays and holidays, and if you ever just needed a friend, she was there to help or offer advice. Her family is left with no doubt as to how much she loved them. She could also fix just about anything due to her father being a carpenter and teaching her what he knew.

Along with being a talented career woman, Carol loved to sew, quilt, and cook. She was wonderful at all of these hobbies. After she retired, she enjoyed going to quilting club, being more active in her church, seeing her grandkids, and doing more sewing and gardening. Another highlight of Carol’s retirement was being able to go on overnight outings with Norman to tractor shows.
Every fourth of July, Carol helped Norman decorate their farm equipment so they could drive their tractors in the Milo parade and throw candy. Both of them enjoyed this tradition very much.

Those left to cherish Carol’s memories are her husband of 30 years, Norman; children: Brook (Betsy) Hansen, Brandi (Josh) Lieberman, Matt (Cindy) Fleagle, and Todd (Christine) Fleagle; 9 grandchildren: Ben, Ellie, Madisen, Hayden, Misty, Michael, and Molly, Mikey and Madeline; brother, Lyle Johnson; sister-in-law, Nancy Johnson; nephew, Dan Johnson and nieces Lori Fowler and Kelly Conrad; son-in-law, Michael Woolbright.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Doris, brothers Fred and Ron and nephew Joe.
