Bryan Keith Sponsler was born on December 30, 1959 in Osceola, IA to Roy and Louise Sponsler. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1978. Bryan married Lynn Greubel on August 8, 1981 and gained a son named David (DJ) Sponsler. They welcomed their daughter JoDee in January 1982. September 1984 their son Lance completed their family. Bryan was passionate about coaching his sons in sports and JoDee picked up his love for 4-H and showing animals. For the last few years of having kids in the house, Lance shared Bryan's devotion of working with horses. Bryan later met Tammy Kelly at a rodeo where their love for each other began. He came to see her and she drove down to help him build their dream home on an acreage on the outskirts of Chariton. On December 29, 2012 they were united in marriage in a tiny church in Branson, Missouri. On this day, with Kolby and Kelly, they became a family of 7. Bryan continued to rodeo and Tammy was right by his side every rodeo, every weekend. Bryan was a Jack-of-all-Trades and mastered beyond measure in each and every one. Over the years he worked as a farm hand for several local farmers, managed various feedlots, managed the Humeston Livestock Sale Barn, was a truck driver, and also enjoyed selling cars and trucks for Macke Motors. After a horse accident, Bryan changed his job from a truck driver at Casey's General Store and started B & T Dirtworks and Fencing. The business took off and he was very proud of his work. Through his earlier years, he was actively involved in coaching little league, 4-H, various saddle clubs and high school rodeo. His love for the rodeo started very young and through his children's high school years. He was a member of the IRCA and URA. Bryan was also an expert steer fitter and helped many youth at local and national shows. He was very proud to continue his parents legacy donating and volunteering his time to the Lucas County Fairgrounds. Bryan loved his family, friends and loved entertaining and being the "life of the party". There was nothing better in his eyes than a house full of family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his passion was always horses. Rodeo was a big part of his life where he made lifelong friends. There was never a stranger in his eyes. He was the hardest working, most loving; giving individual that took pride in everything and anything he touched. Many will miss him and his voice will be heard during our daily routines. I'm sure he's up there saying, "You need a gate here and a Golden Arch would look good here". Until we meet you on the other side of those perfected gates and arches, fly high and guide us all down here. Bryan is survived by his wife, Tammy; children: David J. Sponsler, JoDee (Taylor) Claussen, Lance (Melanie) Sponsler, Kolby (Sydney Batz) Blair, and Kelly (Wesley) Degner; 8 grandchildren: Malayia, Michael, Emily, Jessa, Slate, Kroy, Grant, and Sutton; a great grandson, Azariah; siblings: Roxanne (Bobby) Burton, Cindy (Denny) Parker, and Scott (Kim) Sponsler; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Louise Sponsler; and grandparents: Winfield and Pearl Sponsler and Don and Dortha Horton. Cemetery Details Chariton Cemetery HWY 14 and HWY 34
