Billy Joe "Bill" Colwell Jr.

Billy Joe “Bill” Colwell, Jr., age 54, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Pella Comfort House, surrounded by his family.

Bill was born on April 7, 1968, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Billy Joe “Bill” and Patricia Anne (Little) Colwell. Bill was raised in Lovilia, until his family moved to Albia when he was around the age of five. Bill attended Albia High School, graduating with the Class of 1986.

Bill was united in marriage to Rose Anne Kocur on April 9, 1988, at the First Christian Church in Albia. They were blessed with three children, Krista, Lane, and Kelsey. Bill and Rose enjoyed 34 years of marriage before his passing.

Bill worked at Maytag for 20 years, and then John Deere for 13 years. He worked as a machine repairman. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his shop with his cat, Jasper. He was known to be mechanically inclined, and many of his skills were taught to him by his father. The most important thing in Bill’s life was spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by them all.

Bill’s wishes were to be cremated. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at Union Chapel Cemetery in Monroe County.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Bill’s memory to Pella Comfort House.
