Beverly Jean was born on January 21, 1930. She grew up in Chariton, graduating from Chariton High School. On April 15, 1950, Beverly Hunter married the love of her life, Bob Niswender. They moved to Battle Creek, Michigan while he was in the service. After he returned home, they moved back to Norwood, Iowa and farmed. Beverly and Bob enjoyed 62 years together before his passing in 2012.
In addition to helping on the farm, Beverly worked in the main office at Hy-Vee in the accounting department. She also volunteered her time as a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she held many positions, including President. When she wasn’t working or volunteering, Beverly enjoyed her flower garden, playing Bridge with her friends, playing cards with her family, square dancing and waltzing with Bob, boating at the Lake of the Ozarks, hitting the slot machines at the casino with Dean, and overall enjoyed life to its fullest. Beverly had a wonderful sense of humor. Her great laugh will be missed by many.
Beverly is survived by nieces and nephews: Sharon Hunter (Bud Welch), Patty Saunders, Sandy and Roger Farris, Debbie and John Marmon, and Maynard and Sheryl Oxenreider; along with many relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Annie Hunter; stepfather, William “Bill” Bell; husband, Darrell “Bob” Niswender; brothers, William “Bill” (Martha) Hunter and Stanley (Betty) Hunter; sisters, Doris Hunter and Mildred (Roy) Oxenreider; niece, Beverly Hagedorn; and nephew, Roy Oxenreider Jr.
