Chariton

Beverly Jean McRoberts, 87, of Chariton, passed away May 4, 2023, at the Lucas County Health Center. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will follow at Chariton Cemetery. There will be a lunch following the interment at Pierschbacher Funeral Home.

Beverly was born on October 31, 1935, in Osceola, Iowa to Fargust and Ora Edna (Glenn) Lamb. Anyone who knew Beverly could speak of her kindness and generosity. A dedicated Navy wife, she spent countless hours serving causes beneficial to veterans. Beverly and Gene moved often whenever the Navy came calling. Always being in a new place did not deter her from jumping in whenever help was needed. Beverly was a very community-minded person and was always ready to help others. No matter how much it was deserved, she never desired to take credit for anything.

Beverly was a truly selfless person, dedicating so much of her life to others. She was a paraeducator at Chariton Schools for 20 plus years. In her free time, she loved traveling, photography, genealogy and reading good books. Beverly was always thirsty for knowledge, taking college classes in many of the different cities in which she lived. More than anything else, Beverly was dedicated to her family. Her children would describe her as “The best mom there ever was.”  She was proud of her family, and they are proud of her. She especially loved being with her grandchildren and her ever-growing list of great-grandchildren.  Beverly will be dearly missed by many.

Beverly is survived by her children, Terry (Vic) Southard, Kathy (Rob) Hamilton, Scott (Jo) McRoberts, Andy Wesley, and Kim Conrad; grandchildren, Stephanie (Doug) Emerson, Glenn (Rosa) Southard, Chris Hamilton, Rochelle (Jamie) Welch, Gary McRoberts, Heather (Kendall) McKay, Luke (Missy) McRoberts, Stacia (Cory) Spencer, Steven Wesley, Justin (Cara) Wesley, Shelby (Savannah) Wesley, Corey (Hailey) Conrad, Dylan Conrad; 35 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn (Ken) McCart; and a step-sister, Carol Zanders.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene; siblings, Sam Lamb and Barbara Green; sons-in-law, Buddy Conrad and Jeff Wesley, and a half-brother, Lonnie Anderson.

Memorials in Beverly’s name can be made to Care Initiatives Hospice.
