Funeral services for Beverly Armstrong, age 87, of Knoxville, will be Friday, April 12, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at the Knoxville First United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the service to begin at noon. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery following the service. Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville is assisting Beverly's family with funeral arrangements.
Beverly Arlene was born June 9, 1936, in Mahaska County to Frank and Fern (Smith) Vance. She grew up in the Bussey area and attended Bussey High School, graduating in 1954. She was married to Wallace Eugene Armstrong on September 4, 1954, in Lovilia. The couple made their home in Knoxville. The couple was blessed with two boys, Ronald and Steven.
Beverly worked for Mahaska Farm Service and always worked hard for her family. She enjoyed being a mom and grandma, was an excellent cook, and avid sports fan. She especially loved basketball and had many fond memories of her high school accomplishments and teammates.
Beverly passed away April 7th 2024 surrounded by her family after a short illness. She will be greatly missed by her children, Ron (Lisa) of Dubuque and Steve (Sandra) of Iowa City; 7 grandchildren: Alexa (Jordan) Meyer of Waukee, Jon (Danielle) Armstrong of Apple River, Illinois, Ean Armstrong of Dubuque, Alex (Claudia) Armstrong of Solon, Ian (Hannah) Armstrong of Iowa City, Seth Armstrong of Iowa City, and Catalina Armstrong of Iowa City; 6 great grandchildren: Rory, Ries, Remy, Anastasia, Amara, and Max; and many wonderful and loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, Wally; siblings: Charles (Dottie) Vance, Betty (Dale) Grace, Louise (Frank) Spaur, Janice (John) Sinnott, Judy (Al) Sinclair, and Patty (Rex) Barnhill; nephews: Clay Grace, Roy Grace, Mike Vance, and Bernie Sinnott; and niece Elaine (Grace) Robinson.
The family is very grateful to the many loving friends that supported Mom in her later years.
