A Celebration of Life Gathering for Betty Caylor will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. A Remembrance Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in Betty’s name to the Lucas County Humane Society or the Chariton Senior Center. Interment will be at a later date at the Chariton Cemetery.

Betty Jean (Clark) Caylor was born June 13, 1941, in Knoxville, Iowa. She was the 12th child of Arthur and Lola (Snyder) Clark, and the first to be born in the hospital. She was raised alongside her siblings near Melcher-Dallas and graduated from Melcher-Dallas High School in 1959.
Betty was united in marriage to David Irving in December 1962. Three children were born to this union: Angela Marie, Melinda Kay, and David Wayne. The couple later divorced.
Betty was united in marriage to Lloyd Caylor in April 1987.
Betty worked in healthcare and was a housekeeper for many. She retired in 2010 due to health issues.
Betty was a very independent woman and adventurous. She was a Girl Scout leader, and she especially looked forward to trips with her sisters, Jane and Judy, and sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Nancy.
Betty was a wonderful artist. Drawing, needlepoint, and quilting were some of her favorite pastimes.
Betty passed away May 19, 2022. Her great sense of humor and love of her family will be missed by her loved ones and friends.
Betty is survived by her children: Angi (Craig Ratcliff) Garton, Linda (Walt) Tabor, and Davie Irving; grandchildren: Dawnyle Irving, Nick Garton, Lindsey Larrington, Cole Ver Steegh, Mallory Irving, Monica Irving, and Cheri Kerns; great grandchildren: Daya Olson, Kimber Garton, Oakley Garton, Maddix Larrington, and Paisley Larrington; and brothers, Bob Clark and Leroy Clark.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Caylor; granddaughter, Katie Irving; and siblings: Jake Clark, Vivian Alton, DeeDee Mark, Estel Holder, Arthur Clark, Bill Clark, Hubert Clark, Marvin Clark, Jane Forkner, Fritz Clark, and Judy Routh.
