Betty Anderson

Betty Anderson, 88 of Dallas, passed away February 4, 2020. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Suncrest Hospice. Betty Doan Watkins was born November 27, 1931 to Lucas and Viola (Hunter) Watkins in Apex, Missouri. Betty was one of seven children born to the couple. On July 10, 1953, Betty was united in marriage to Harold Anderson in Knoxville, Iowa. They lived in California until December 1954 while Harold finished his military service. They then moved to Carlisle, Iowa where they raised their five children: Linda, Sherry, Barb, Ronald, and Teresa. Betty loved raising her family on the farm. She always kept an impressive garden and was known far and wide for the acre of strawberries that she grew year after year. Betty also enjoyed fishing, seeking out flea markets, outings to "The Boat" in Osceola, and cooking for her family. She was a wonderful cook and made the best meatloaf and fried chicken. Betty also looked forward to wintering with Harold in Arizona. The couple made many memories in both Green Valley and Tucson. Above all else, Betty loved spending time with her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren meant the world to her. She will be dearly missed. Betty is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harold "Jack" Anderson of Dallas; daughters: Linda (Scott Fenn) Anderson of Linden, Sherry (Jeff Marquette) Anderson of Elk River, MN, and Barb (Craig) Damerval of Winfield; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Watkins of Texas; brother, Junior Watkins of Texas; and brother, Loren Watkins of Atlanta, GA. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Lucas and Viola Watkins; son, Ronald Anderson; daughter, Teresa Anderson; and siblings: Dutch, Berniece, Doug, Jeannie, Scott, Bobby, Richard, and Bonnie.
