Benjamin Adam Hixenbaugh, age 34, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at his residence.
Ben was born in Pella, Iowa on March 18, 1987, the son of Donald and Mary Kay Hixenbaugh. He was raised in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School, Class of 2005. Following high school, Ben joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country from 2006 to 2010.
After his service in the Navy, Ben attended DMACC and attained his Associate of Science in Liberal Arts Degree. Ben worked at Pella Corp., Ver Meer, Scheel’s and most recently had been employed at Weiler for six years.
Ben loved the outdoors. From a young age, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. His greatest joy was his son, Hayden.
Those left to cherish Ben’s memory include his son, Hayden Hixenbaugh, of Knoxville; parents, Don and Mary Kay Hixenbaugh of Knoxville; siblings, Brian (Kristen) Hixenbaugh of Huxley, Iowa, Megan (Justin) Kobow of Ankeny, Iowa, and Holly (Greg) Willer of Knoxville; nieces and nephews, Carly, Brady, and Riley Hixenbaugh, Keaton and Violet Kobow, and Lillian and Wyatt Willer; grandmother, Marge Rinehart of Knoxville; and many other relatives and friends.
Ben is preceded in death by grandparents, Leon and Marjorie Hixenbaugh, and Robert “Bob” Rinehart.
Visitation for Ben will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Ben’s family will be present to greet friends and relatives from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Due to Ben’s love of nature and the outdoors, camouflage clothing is encouraged. Burial, with military honors will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. A luncheon will take place following burial at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Knoxville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Ben’s memory to his son, Hayden.
