Joy was born at home in Motor, Iowa on April 24, 1931, to Howard and Clara (Van Zuuk) Mosher. She grew up in Motor attending grade school there, but later went to Milo High School, graduating in 1948. The very first basketball game she ever saw, she got to participate in.

Joy met Darl during high school in Milo. They were married on July 31, 1948. The couple was blessed with 6 children: Doyle, Darla, Diana, Dee Jay, Doug, and Dave. They made their home in Milo. She was a partner with Darl on the farm. She was an excellent mother, always involved with her children’s activities, attending every event possible for her children and grandchildren.

Joy also owned a fabric store in Milo. She was a great seamstress and enjoyed teaching others how to sew. She also enjoyed refinishing furniture and cooking; she was an excellent cook! Joy was a 4-H Leader for the Belmont Peppers Club for many years with Alice Rodgers and Charlotte Mosher. Her faith was important to her, and she was very involved in the church.

Joy was also a member of the Iowa Porkettes in 1980, organized as an auxiliary to the Iowa Pork Producers. She used her knowledge to teach others to cook loins and pork chops. Joy and Darl were awarded the Outstanding Young Farmers Award. Joy was always volunteering and helping others, but she never asked for much and you never heard her complain.

When Joy wasn’t working or volunteering, she enjoyed playing cards. When her kids were young, they played countless games of Rook and Pitch. Later in life, Joy and Darl played weekly card games with their good friends. She also enjoyed quilting, needlework, and cross stitch. Joy made many, many quilts for her children and grandchildren over the years.

Joy always lived in Warren County, the last 10 years in Indianola. She and Darl spent their winters in Arizona in later years.

Joy passed away at home on Wednesday, January 24th surrounded by family. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 75 years, Darl Reynolds; children: Doyle (Chris) Reynolds, Diana (Ron) Rokusek, Dee Jay Reynolds, Doug (Karen) Reynolds, and Dave (Shelly) Reynolds; 10 grandchildren: Aaron Reynolds, Carrie Reynolds, Lindsay (Colin) DeMarlie, Mandy (Justin Holmes) Rokusek, Alicia (Derek) Deer, Emily (Scott) Swanson, Hollie (Shaun) Guyer, Garrett (Stephanie) Reynolds, Cody (April) Reynolds, and Chase (Sammy) Reynolds; 15 great grandchildren: Alston, Karson, Gabriella, Leo, Rylan, Alex, Ethan, Alexa, Jace, Stella, Graham, June, Lola, Theo, and Gretta. Along with brother, Jay Mosher; brother-in-law, Bob Howe; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Joy was preceded in death by her daughter, Darla; sister, Jeanie (Doyle) Nash, sisters-in-law, Irene Howe and Charlotte Mosher.
