Funeral services for Audrey Marie McKnight, 88, of Carlisle will be Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. You may join the family via livestream at . Audrey Marie McKnight was born May 10, 1932 to Herbert and Lucy (Patterson) Stansbery in Chariton, Iowa. She graduated from Chariton High School. She later moved to the Carlisle area. Audrey married James McKnight and to this union, they were blessed with two sons: Steve and Dean. She worked for HyVee for 25 years in the Des Moines and Indianola stores as a sample lady. She also owned and worked at the Carlisle Maid-Rite where she was known for her biscuits and gravy. Audrey was Irish, but a true country girl. She loved farming and horses. She was a true John Wayne fan. She was quite famous for her wonderful pumpkin cookies. If you have ever seen "Everybody Loves Raymond," Audrey was a lot like his mother on the show. She was a sweet lady, but would never hesitate to let you know what she was thinking and give her opinion. She was such a genuine and honest person. Audrey enjoyed attending the balloons classics each year. She was an active member of the Carlisle Missionary Baptist Church, and was very close to the other church members. Audrey will be greatly missed by her children: Steve (Sue) McKnight and Dean (Debbie) McKnight; grandchildren: Shannon (Chuck) Smith, Jamie McKnight, Codie (Samantha) McKnight, Brad (Erika) Farrell, and Patti (Steve) Stark; nine great grandchildren: Joshua, Logan, Tatum, Theo, Evelyn, David, Star, Summer, and Sunny; and her sisters: Joan Kingsbury and Lucille (Dick) Young. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Glen Stansbery, Daryl Stansbery, Clifford Stansbery, Marjorie Bingham, Gerald Stansbery, Keith Stansbery, Janet Cottrell, Beverly Westfall, Carolyn Stansbery, Marilyn Snodgrass, and Dick Stansbery.
