Arthur Dale Swayne Jr.

December 16, 1954 — February 12, 2020

On the evening of Wednesday, February 12, 2020, Arthur Dale Swayne Jr. of Albia, Iowa passed away in his home with his two children by his side.
Arthur was born on December 16, 1954 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Arthur and Juanita (Willett) Swayne. In his early life he attended schools in Knoxville, Twin Cedars and Pleasantville. Later the family settled in Knoxville, Iowa where he transitioned to adulthood, made memories and found the things he loved about life. He was a man that could live anywhere, he lived in multiple cities in Iowa and even called the south his home in Albequerque, New Mexico for a few years. He loved hill climbing and riding motorcylces with his siblings when he was young and attending church as his love for God grew. Arthur could turn lemons into lemonade, was not the jealous kind and genuinely happy for other’s successes. Despite any setbacks in life he found the most joy from his kids and his favorite thing to be called was “Grandpa”. In the most recent years he loved when his daughter would visit home with the grandkids and helping his son with construction jobs or babysitting on Fridays even though he said “I’m not sure who was in charge of who today!”
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Juanita, and a sister, Janice.
He is survived by a son, Willie (Sarah) Swayne of Knoxville, Iowa and their two daughters, Zoie and Quinn. A daughter, Emily (Jeremy) Davis of Buckeye, Arizona and their three children, Hailie, Maci and Jeremy Jr., and the mother of his children, Cyndee Swayne. He is also survived by 5 siblings, Loyd (Judy) Swayne, Barbara (Dave) Williams, Gordon (Shirley) Swayne, Gary (Jodi) Swayne, and Gina (Richard) Brees. Leaving behind to celebrate the memories as well are many nieces, nephews, friends and people who were blessed to cross paths with him.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2pm at the Church of Christ in Knoxville, Iowa with a potluck to follow in the church basement. A burial will be done at a later date with close family in attendance.
