Ardith Jean Showers

Ardith Jean (Rowland) Showers, age 76, of Lovilia, Iowa, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Comfort House in Pella.
Ardith was born October 24, 1943 in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of James and Lanell (Smith) Rowland. She grew up in Columbia, Iowa and attended country school there. Ardith graduated from Knoxville High School.
She was united in marriage to Harold Gerome Showers August 10, 1962. They were blessed with four children, Rodney, Randy, Roger, and Ryan. Ardith and Harold enjoyed 54 years of marriage before his passing on April 4, 2017.
Ardith was employed at Garwood Drug Store for several years, and then worked at Hy-Vee in the pharmacy department in Albia until her retirement in 2005. She was an excellent cook and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included going for drives, sewing, and shopping. She was so proud of her family and particularly loved making Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for them.
A private graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Ardith is survived by her children, Rodney (Sondra) Showers of Knoxville, Randy (Karen) Showers of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Roger (Kim) Showers of Albia; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Ardith is also survived by her siblings, Ardean (Fontalee) Rowland of Norwalk, Iowa, Charlotte (Phil) Kaufman of North Carolina, Arlen (Dawn) Rowland of Montezuma, Iowa, and Cecil (Sandra) Showers of Lovilia; also sister in law, Mary Showers of Lovilia.
Ardith is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lanell Rowland; husband, Harold Showers; and son, Ryan Showers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Ardith’s memory to West Ridge Specialty Care of Knoxville, Iowa.
