She was the youngest girl of Sixteen children. She was delivered by an Indian midwife. The family moved to Chariton when Anna was nine in 1944. Her father died in 1946 leaving her mother, Louise to raise 9 of their 16 children by herself. Anna attended and graduated from Chariton High School in 1954. It was there that she met her future husband, George Goering. He was working on a construction crew next to the school. They married October 30, 1954. They moved to Davenport where George built their first home before returning to Chariton. They bought a farm in rural Chariton where they lived and raised their children. They were blessed with 5 children: Carelina, Larry, Arthur, Darlene and Shari. Anna worked as a nurse's aide at the VA Hospital in Knoxville for 15 years. Her love for children was shared with many children through the years of being a daycare provider. She was known as "Grandma Anna" to her daycare kids and their families. She and George also opened her home and heart to the many foster children that joined their family. She was a hardworker and making a very loving home for their family was always her top priority. She taught them to always take care of each other and enjoy spending time together. She loved watching the grandkids sports, taking a casual ride on the trike that George and his sons, Larry and Art built, Sunday breakfast at Hy-Vee with her children was something she always looked forward to. Her family loved and says her homemade chicken and noodles are famous. She crocheted doilies, afghans and baby blankets for her family. She also enjoyed playing bingo, scratch off tickets, puzzle books, crosswords, and she loved the St. Louis Cardinals. Her family will always think of her when they see or hear windchimes and bells. She was a collector of bells and had huge collection over 300. Anna will be greatly missed by her children: Carelina (Paul) Brown, Larry (Colleen) Goering, Arthur (Becky) Goering, Darlene (Dale) Proeger, and Shari (Craig) Spiker; 17 grandchildren: Stephanie, Beth, Melissa, Danny, Sara, Dustin, Amanda, Mathew, Malissa, Travis, Zachary, Jesse, Bobby, Tracy, Michael, Brett, and Andrew; 29 great grandchildren; a sister, Alice Vetters; and sisters-in-law: Katherine and Alice; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her her parents, Jacob & Louise Gall, her husband, George Goering in 1997; and 15 siblings. Cemetery Details Chariton Cemetery HWY 14 and HWY 34
