Amy Jo Finnell

A Memorial Service for Amy Finnell will be Sunday, November 20, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. A time of fellowship will follow the service until 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in care of Kirk Whitler.

Amy Jo Finnell was born November 20, 1965, to Margaret Aspedon Finnell and Thomas Finnell.

She grew up mostly in Riverton, Iowa where she was very close to her family. She graduated from Ralston High School in Ralston, Nebraska in 1985. She was a Certified Nurse Assistant and worked with several Nursing Homes and Home Health Care Companies. She was very compassionate, loved helping people, and was a genuinely caring person.  

Amy was very well known around Omaha, Chariton, and Des Moines areas. Everywhere she went someone would stop with a big Hi! And a hug. She loved hugs.

Amy lived in rural Chariton, Iowa and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chariton. She was also a member of The Des Moines Jaycees.

Amy passed away at the Lucas County Hospital in Chariton Iowa due to injuries sustained in a vehicle accident Friday November 4th.

She was preceded in death by her father, Tom Finnell; grandparents, Marion and Ethel Aspedon; and grandmother, Jesse Finnell. 

Amy is survived by her longtime companion, Kirk Whitler and his daughter Donnal Whitler; her mother, Margaret Andrew; stepfather, Willard Andrew; brothers, Chris Finnell (Sue) and Scott Finnell; nieces: Savannah Sieren (Derek), Sheila Finnell (Meghan), Shannon Blake (Brandon) and Grace Kennedy; great nephew, Carter; 5 great nieces: Shea, Nichole, Sadie, Finnley, and Charlotte; along with many relatives and friends.
