Allen "Al" Loyd

Allen Keith Loyd, age 87, of Indianola passed away on November 22nd, 2022, at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa.

Services will be Sunday, November 27, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Gathering and refreshments at the funeral home from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Interment will be at the Columbia Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Al's name to the Columbia Fire & Rescue.

Allen was born on November 3rd, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated in 1955 from East High School in Des Moines.  He served in the National Guard for 6 years and was married on September 22, 1957, to Connie Byers of Chariton, Iowa.  To this union, he was blessed with two children, Allen Lynn and Marcia.  He worked most of his life in the trucking business and owned his own trucks.

Allen and Connie lived in rural Indianola where he raised crops and livestock.  Allen loved horses, especially mules and Belgians, which he bred and trained.  He joyfully managed the horse barn for 10 years at the Iowa State Fair.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 65 years, Connie Loyd; his children and their spouses, Marcia (Stephen) and Allen Lynn (Sharon); 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; along with many relatives and friends.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Ralph; brother, Gordon; and sister, Charlotte.
