Alice Darlene Kline, age 92, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away at her residence on Monday, October 17, 2022.
Darlene was born on November 9, 1929, in Attica, Iowa, the daughter of Casey and Hazel Mallory. She was raised in Attica and graduated with the Class of 1948. Following high school, she was employed at a dry cleaners and at a dime store in Knoxville, before marrying.
Darlene was united in marriage to Merle “Jeff” Kline on January 1, 1949, in Bussey, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Larry and Karen. Darlene was a homemaker and helped with the fuel business. Darlene and Jeff owned and operated Kline Oil Company for 52 years. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage before his passing on January 11, 2012.
Darlene enjoyed square dancing in her younger years. She also liked shopping and driving around with Jeff and her grandchildren. Darlene especially enjoyed going to Hardee’s with her coffee club. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. Darlene’s greatest joy was her family. She was deeply loved and will be missed by them all.
Those left to cherish Darlene’s memory include her children, Larry (Dawn) Kline, and Karen Kline; grandchildren, Jeff (Stacy Hansen) Kline, Ashley (Tommy) Williams, Alec (Ashley) Kline, Kenny (Keitha) Keith, Kaci (Shane Cox) Visser; Clayton DeVore, and Dustin (April Walker) DeVore. Darlene is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, Casey and Hazel Mallory; and her husband, Merle Jeff Kline.
A visitation for Darlene will be held on October 26, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 A.M., also at the church. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Following services, a luncheon will be held at the church.
Memorials may be given in her memory to the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville.
