Agnes Lennea Stewart, age 86, of Albia, Iowa died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at the Monroe Care Center in Albia. She was born November 23, 1919 in Buxton, Iowa to Warner and Anna Marie (Nelson) Carlson. She married Homer Ray Stewart on September 8, 1939 in Unionville, Missouri. She was a homemaker, raising her family and helping her husband farm until retiring and moving to town in 1995. Agnes enjoyed the 16 winters her and Homer spent in Texas during their retirement years. She enjoyed the many friendships they developed and especially playing cards. Agnes made several beautiful quilts, leaving these to her children. She always enjoyed her children and grandchildren at her many family dinners and get-togethers. In her younger years, Agnes, attended and was baptized in the Swedish Lutheran Church in Buxton, Iowa. Three years ago, Agnes fulfilled a wonderful accomplishment when she wrote her life story in a book titled ?Down Home.? Agnes is survived by her husband, Homer of Albia; 4 children, Janice (Wayne) Schroeder of Dodge City, KS, Sandy Williams of Dodge City, KS, Wayne (Bonnie) Stewart of Kansas City, MO, and Irene (Mike) Lathen of Albia; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Elsie Reed and Ruth Keegel both of Albia; and one brother, Arthur Carlson of Bussey. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Larry James Stewart; one great granddaughter, Alexandria Schroeder; two brothers, Harold and Carl Carlson; and 3 sisters, Violet Senn, Signe Reed, and Margaret Carlson. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, March 10, 2006 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia with Rev. Kevin Leveck officiating. Burial will follow in Oakview Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will open after 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with the family present from 6-8 P.M. Thursday evening. Casketbearers will be Agnes? grandsons, Curtis and Scott Schroeder, Roger and Jeff Lathen, and Bob and Larry Williams. Honorary Casketbearers will be Shelley Freelon, Terri Nichols, Carrie Wirtjes, Denny Williams, Corey Schroeder, Becky Stephens, Amanda Stewart, James Stewart, Wayne Stewart, Jr., and Darron Meinsma. An Open Memorial has been established in Agnes? name.
