Zelma Miller

Zelma Miller, 84, of Chariton passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Chariton Nursing & Rehab Center. Zelma was born to Seymoure and Martha (Tickle) Gray in Lacona on August 2, 1929. She received her education from Chariton Schools graduating from Chariton High School in 1946. On September 3, 1947, Zelma was united in marriage to Ken Miller in Albany, Indiana. To this union were two children; Carol and Ray. Zelma was employed by Iowa Electric Light & Power for 33 years as an office manager. She enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She was a member of Woodburn Chapter #342 Order of the Eastern Star, Eagles Club Aeri 281 in Chariton, American Legion Auxiliary in Chariton and the United Commercial Travelers. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Ken Miller, two children: Carol Adcock of Williamson, Ray Miller (Carol) of Keokuk, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, three siblings: Dorothy Gray of Portland, OR, Robert Gray (Paula) of Cincinnati, Iowa and Bill Gray (Janice) of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents Seymoure & Martha (Tickle) Gray, two sisters: Gilda Carson, Jacque Shipley and a brother, Seymoure Gray Jr. No services are planned immediately; Graveside services will take place at Fry Hill Cemetery at a later date.
