Verle Young

Verle K. Young, 72, of Milo passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Verle was born to Allen & Minnie (Dunn) Young at home in rural Milo on December 27, 1941. He received his education from Southeast Warren High School, graduating in 1960. Verle was employed as a truck driver by Circle B Cashway and later on by Huttig Millwork. He was a member of the Milo Lions Club, for 45 years, and Motor Friends Church in Milo. Verle loved the outdoors and enjoyed working there. He enjoyed fishing, decorating his house for Christmas and raising flowers. Verle also enjoyed going to his shop and woodworking. Of all the things he enjoyed doing outside, taking care of his lawn was most important. Verle's lawn had to be immaculate. At the end of the day when work was done, he so loved to sit down and watch the ISU Cyclones play Basketball and Football. Verle will be missed by many family and friends. Survivors include his wife Sharon of Milo, two children: Scott Young (Angela) of Indianola and Steven Young and his fiancée Jessica Sheldon of Ames, three granddaughters: Alissa, Alexis and Grace Young, all of Indianola; sister, Freda Wright (Paul) of Liberty Center and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Almeda Culbertson and her husband Clyne, Wilma Sams and her husband Ival and a nephew Dennis Culbertson. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo with Pastors Jerry Avise-Rouse and Amy Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday evening at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo. Memorials may be given to the Milo Fire & Rescue or Milo Lions Club.
