Twyla Hixson James

Memorials to the New Hope United Methodist Church Twyla was born December 5, 1929 in Chariton, Iowa to Otis and Mary Gunn Hixson. She graduated from Chariton High School in 1948. She married Noel James who passed away in January of 1994. Twyla was a truck driver, a cook, and a nurse's aide. She always enjoyed helping others. She made many wedding and anniversary cakes and as the main cook in restaurants she was often referred to as the 'dump chef', because she just dumped things into a pot to make a stew or soup. Twyla was very active in church and enjoyed helping with football suppers and other projects. Twyla passed away July 26, 2010 at the Westridge Nursing Center in Knoxville at the age of 80 years. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother; and two sons. She is survived by her son William of California, three grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
