Tom Small

Tom Small, 64, of Knoxville, passed away at his home on January 11, 2015. Services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas at 2:00 p.m. Family will greet friends prior to the service from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery near Knoxville. Memorials may be made in care of Tom's family. Thomas Ellsworth Small was born April 17, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lewis and Phyllis (Grove) Small. He was raised and lived most of his life in Des Moines. He was married to Linda in 1972. Tom learned the siding business from John Kendall and eventually started his own siding business. He later worked for American Window and Siding and also worked for Sysco. He loved being around kids. He bought his children go-karts and dune buggies over the years, taught his sons to install siding, and recently taught his youngest great grandchild to use a hammer. He loved having family cookouts and going boating and fishing. He loved big family gatherings and any time spent with family. In recent years he enjoyed going to the casino and always loved having his dog Lucy by his side. Surviving are his ex-wife, Linda Small; children: Teresa (Timothy) Stittsworth, Chuck Ogden, and Lewis (Heather) Small; 10 grandchildren: Chrystal, David, James, Megan, Hollie, Lily, Tommy, Tim, Tanner, and Trenton; 5 great grandchildren: Calyn, Elijah, Gavin, Tucker, and Amelia. Also surviving are siblings: Rosemary (Richard) Cronk, Shirley Small, Gloria (Clifford Smith) Small, Rick Small, and Russ (Debbie) Small; a special nephew, Kenny Ennis; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
