Sheryl Hoch, 69, of Lacona passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Knoxville Hospitals & Clinics. Sheryl was born to Charles & Dorothy (Loveless) Bumgarner on September 22, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa. She married Kenneth W. Hoch on July 21, 1962 in Lacona, Iowa. Sheryl was a seamstress and was employed locally by Gross & Galesburg in Chariton for many years. Sheryl was a strong independent woman with a bit of stubbornness at times. She enjoyed canning vegetables, gardening and sewing. She enjoyed cooking and according to Peanut, 'she could make dirt taste good'. She also spent her time over the years harvesting chickens. Sheryl and Peanut loved spending time with their grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband Kenneth 'Peanut' Hoch of Lacona, three children: Lori Michelle Hoch (Larry Petersma) of Indianola, Lynn (Cindy) Hoch of Indianola, Lana (Mark) Dittmer of Springhill, Kansas, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters: Phyllis (Ricky) Richard of Polk City, Margaret (Manuel) Recio of Arizona and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Linda Kaminiski, Marilyn Ripperger, Gloria Fanning and Ronnie Bumgarner. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Leonard Tinkle officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery north of Lacona. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2013 at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona. A Rosary will be led by Fr. Leonard Tinkle at 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to her family which will be designated at a later time.
