Lieutenant Colonel Harold Scott Hyatt, Ret. passed away October 5, 2017 at the age of 79 years. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14 at the Dallas Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will follow from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. with a service to be held at 4:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Memorials may be made to the Melcher-Dallas Public Library or HCI Knoxville. Harold Scott Hyatt was born June 1, 1938 at home in Dallas, Iowa to Harold Lincoln and Margaret Scott Hyatt. He was born in the home that he currently lived in. He graduated from Dallas High School in 1956 with a class of nine students. He then went to Iowa State University and was involved with ROTC and Sigma Pi. More importantly he met the love of his life Adahmarie Gray. They were married on May 14, 1960 and were blessed with three sons: Harold Robert, Timothy Craig, and Alan Scott. Scotty joined the Army and served during Vietnam and continued in the Army serving all over the world working in telecommunications and computer engineering. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 22 years of service. After retiring he continued to work in communications. They moved back to Iowa after his father passed away. Scotty carried mail and worked on the Melcher-Dallas Police Force and the Marion County Deputy Sheriff Reserve until he turned 65. He enjoyed his time as a policeman in Melcher-Dallas and often mentored the young people he was able to visit. Scotty served as a past mayor and city council member of Melcher-Dallas and was very involved in his community. He was a Mason and served as the Grand Master. He liked to mow his yard and do yard work, always staying busy. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and especially enjoyed poetry. He cherished his family and loved time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lieutenant Colonel Harold Scott Hyatt, Ret. passed away October 5, 2017 at the age of 79 years. He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Margaret. Scotty will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Adahmarie Hyatt; his sons: Harold Robert (Gayle) Hyatt, Timothy Craig (Ruth) Hyatt, and Alan Scott (Traci) Hyatt; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
